I think about art as something that goes beyond borders and has the capability to transcend time, speaking to generations of viewers long after the artists completed their work. When an artist's work can go beyond the region or country of which they live, and reach other countries, that is powerful because
The stillness from the silent fog that rolls in off the lagoon, stops time. The sun becomes a mere speck of light in the sky that filters through like a pinhole camera, illuminating a timeless wonder. How many footsteps have walked along these stone pathways that organically bob and weave throughout this great city that makes it's home in a body of water.
The work demands patience and timing. It takes years of experience to become a glass master and to make this 40 inch tall glass sculpture will require no less than 8 people, and a fork lift all working together. In the space of just 15 minutes the molten ball of glass will be pushed, pulled, blown and stretched into, "RITORNO DAL DOMANI", the sculpture Shane Guffogg envisioned 6 months ago.
